Harm Reduction for People who Use Drugs

Information published in February 2014 by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) describes how interventions for people who inject drugs are to be incorporated into funding requests to GFATM. Applicants are advised to tailor and justify their proposed responses within the context of the epidemiological situation and the needs of the people at risk.

GFATM supports evidence-based interventions that aim to ensure access to HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support for key populations. This support includes the nine interventions set out in the WHO/UNODC/UNAIDS technical guide for the prevention, treatment, and care of HIV among people who inject drugs.
